Call to action
Help for those not in education, employment or training

With the revelation that unemployment figures are at their highest since the mid 90s and the recent grim news about the UK’s economy, it's imperative that the educational and training needs of young women are not forgotten. With this in mind, young women from YWCA centres spoke at a national conference about young people not in education, employment or training (NEET).
They talked about their experiences of the education system and the barriers they faced when looking for work. They highlighted the urgent need to improve information, advice and guidance services and support for young women. Helen Berresford, YWCA’s parliamentary officer took part in a panel discussion on reaching the most vulnerable young people. Helen said: "It’s vital young women have the opportunity to talk about their experiences and that these are used as a base for education, employment and training services that are tailored to their needs."
